Timothy L. Morisette

The University of Minnesota Law School, from which I graduated, is an esteemed institution; law firms and companies from all over the U.S. come to the school to interview prospective employees.  I chose not to apply or interview with any of them.  I had grown up on a small farm in southwestern Minnesota and I wanted to return to small community living.

My wife and I considered several cities outside the Twin Cities, and we selected Northfield.  What a choice that proved to be!  We’ve struck it rich, not in material wealth, but in family, friends and community.

For most of my career, I have been a trial attorney.  I have tried cases in several counties for divorces, personal injury, contract disputes, mechanic’s liens, property disputes, criminal defense and prosecution.  Conflict resolution had been the core of my practice.

I now focus my practice on conflict prevention; I help develop plans to prevent future disputes.  I concentrate on estate, tax and business planning along with probate and trust administration.  I also participate in many real estate transactions.

I begin by learning about you personally, what is important to you, what is worrisome to you, and what you want in the end.  With that information and other facts you share with me, I work to prepare a plan specifically designed for you.  It is far more rewarding to me to help you plan for the future than to fight about the past.
